  • A: Our goal is to issue payment as soon as possible. You can expect to be paid within 24 hours of the verification of the life insurance.

  • How do I know when I have been paid?
  • A: We fax or email the funeral home/cemetery a Funding Confirmation when the payment transaction has been completed.

  • Do you require a death certificate in order for me to be paid?
  • A: No. For most claims a certified death certificate is not required before you receive payment. However, a few insurance companies do require a copy of the death certificate before they will verify benefits. Please mail a certified death certificate to Express Funeral Funding as soon as it is available.

  • Does the funeral home need to mail all original assignments and paperwork?
  • A: Yes. Please mail all original paperwork to Express Funeral Funding immediately after your Funding Confirmation has been received. All paperwork is then forwarded from our office to the insurance company the day it is received.

  • If I submit multiple insurance company policies on the same deceased, do I need to send more than one original death certificate?
  • A: Yes. You should mail a death certificate for each insurance company you submit. However, there are some exceptions when the insurance company will accept a photocopy of the death certificate. We will let you know if this applies to your claim.

  • By what method does the funeral home/cemetery receive payment?
  • A: Most funeral homes/cemeteries are set up for ACH direct payment. This method is FREE and a fast way to receive your funds (funds are available to your bank by midnight the day you receive your Funding Confirmation). We can mail a check to the funeral home/cemetery if preferred.

  • If the family is receiving additional proceeds above the funeral costs but not assigning them to Express Funeral Funding, when do they receive their money from insurance?
  • A: The family will receive a check from the insurance company when the claim is completed. Normally, it takes insurance companies 30-90 days to issue payment on a life insurance claim.

  • If the family is receiving additional proceeds above the funeral costs and is assigning them to Express Funeral Funding, when do they receive their money?
  • A: The family will be issued payment the same time the funeral home/cemetery is paid, which is normally within 24 hours of verification.

  • By what method does the family receive payment from Express Funeral Funding for their advance of funds above the funeral costs?
  • A: The most common method of payment to the family is a check payable to the beneficiary which is mailed to the funeral home to present to the family (FedEx overnight option available). If preferred, a check can be mailed directly to the beneficiary or funds can be direct deposited with the funeral home or cemetery for their distribution to the family.
