A Career in Funeral Service: Highlighting Larry’s 10 Years with EFF

October 9th, 2026

With 57 years in the funeral profession and 10 years as part of Express Funeral Funding, Larry brings a wealth of experience, industry knowledge, and longstanding relationships to the EFF team.

His career has taken him from working directly with families in the funeral home to preneed sales, leadership, and eventually funeral funding. Along the way, he’s experienced the profession from many different perspectives—all of which continue to shape the knowledge and support he brings to EFF and the funeral homes we serve today.

As we celebrate Larry’s 10 Years with EFF, we’re taking a look back at the career that brought him here and the decades of experience behind the familiar face so many of our customers know.

Where It All Began

Larry’s career in funeral service began in 1969, when he started working at a funeral home and enrolled in mortuary school later that year.

After graduating in 1970, he received his Funeral Director’s license in 1971 and his Embalmer’s license the following year. He continued serving families at a funeral home in Tomball, Texas, until 1980.

From there, Larry relocated to Abilene, Texas, where he continued serving families at Mabene Allen Funeral Home, later known as McCracken Allen Funeral Home.

Those early years gave Larry firsthand experience working with families and laid the foundation for a career that would continue to grow and evolve over the decades.

A New Side of Funeral Service

In 1988, Larry moved to Fort Worth and began working with Mission Life Insurance Company, helping families plan ahead through preneed funeral arrangements.

He later became a regional manager serving North Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, and Colorado.

For Larry, one of the most rewarding parts of his career has been helping others better serve families while supporting the growth of funeral homes.

“I always enjoyed training people how to help families plan ahead for their loved ones and helping funeral homes increase their market share.”

That experience eventually led Larry into yet another side of the profession: funeral funding.

Bringing His Experience to EFF

In 2010, Larry joined Jefferson Financial and entered the fast-funding side of funeral service, helping funeral homes process their insurance assignments.

When Express Funeral Funding acquired Jefferson Financial in 2016, Larry became part of the EFF team—bringing decades of funeral service experience and established relationships along with him.

For Larry, joining EFF also meant having even more resources and services available to support the funeral homes he had spent years working alongside.

“Jefferson Financial was purchased by Express Funeral Funding in 2016, which allowed me to offer my funeral homes so many more services. Express continues to make it faster and easier today.”

Ten years later, that experience continues to be an important part of what Larry brings to EFF. His understanding of funeral homes comes from having worked within the profession himself—from serving families firsthand to helping funeral professionals grow their businesses and navigate insurance assignments.

57 Years of Experience, 10 Years at EFF

Over the course of 57 years, Larry has seen many sides of funeral service. He’s worked as a funeral director and embalmer, helped families plan ahead, trained funeral professionals, managed a multi-state region, and supported funeral homes with insurance assignment funding.

That range of experience gives Larry a perspective built from decades of working with the same professionals and families EFF serves today.

As we highlight Larry’s 10 Years with EFF, we’re proud to recognize the experience, relationships, and industry knowledge he brings to the EFF team—and continues to share with our customers every day.

Thank you, Larry, for 10 years of being an important part of the EFF team!
